How to Clean Your Cast Iron Casserole
In addition to being easy to use, our iconic colourful casseroles are also very easy to clean. Since 1925, they have been made from our durable enamelled cast iron, so they do not require the same level of care needed for traditional raw cast iron pots and pans. Cast iron cleaning is made easy with Le Creuset – with only a few simple steps your cast iron casserole (also sometimes called a Dutch oven) will be clean and kept it in top condition for generations to come.
Steps to clean your casserole
Our casseroles are dishwasher-safe, however we recommend hand washing to keep your cookware and the enamel coating perfectly clean and lustrous.
Care for cast iron by following these easy steps:
Before first use
Before use, remove all labels and packaging from the casserole and wash it. Conveniently, our cast iron casseroles do not need to be seasoned before nor after use.
Allow to cool
Once you’re done cooking, let the casserole cool down before washing. Placing a hot casserole in cold water or filling a hot pot with cold water can damage the enamel
Washing your casserole
Wash with warm soapy water and a soft nylon sponge – allow to soak to remove particularly stubborn stains or residues. Use our Cast Iron Cookware Cleaner to assist with cleaning.
Store safely
Use the accompanying plastic clips to store your dry casserole. Typically, we recommend storing your casserole in a dry cupboard or in an airy space away from steam.
